Class Brothers, Comrades-in-Arms
Class Brothers, Comrades-in-Arms

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) turns 75 years old, and the Federal Republic celebrates a diamond wedding with post-Nazi imperialism.
When NATO was founded in 1949, its role was clear; after the short-term cooperation with the Communists, the doctrine returned to defending capital all around the world.
Who helps was initially pretty irrelevant; fascist Portugal under Mussolini fan Salazar, genocidal France with Algeria – all irrelevant, as long as no communists.
But NATO remained even after the fall of the Eastern Bloc, and no longer allowed itself to be tamed by the imperialist might of the United Nations.
Because to eliminate the last piece of decaying socialism in Europe, capital interests took precedence over international law; Yugoslavia was bombed, NATO bases established.
Uranium ammunition in Yugoslavia, complete destabilization of Afghanistan, torture and rapes, white phosphorus, the unlawful destruction of Libya, which has not recovered to this day – all irrelevant, we are the good guys.
At the latest since the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact, there is de facto no justification for NATO’s existence anymore.
When bourgeois media claim that NATO is a defense alliance against aggression by Russia and China, one must ask – who is actually the aggressor?
Defense spending of the 23 NATO member states amounted to around 1.3 trillion dollars in 2023.
In comparison; Chinese military spending was about 230 billion, Russian about 85 billion in 2023.
Well, NATO also has many states with many inhabitants, 930 million residents to be exact, meaning each NATO citizen pays about 1,300 dollars annually for military.
By comparison; a Chinese citizen pays 161 dollars.
In terms of population, NATO pays eight times more for military than its biggest enemy, China.
NATO, with its VIP of the United States, has opened 27 military bases in direct proximity to China.
The aggression of NATO in the Chinese sea is often justified by Chinese foreign policy regarding the stationary aircraft carrier Taiwan – to understand the absurdity of this: Taiwan is about the size of North Rhine-Westphalia, has active US personnel stationed, and receives 2 billion US dollars and weapons annually from the United States – and China is called the aggressor.
To illustrate the nonsense of reporting on the Taiwan situation further:
Imagine the island of Sylt declares independence, receives billions in military aid from China, and stations Chinese soldiers.
Then China starts building military bases in Denmark and Norway, and conducts regular military maneuvers through the North Sea – while claiming Germany is the aggressor.
What NATO has achieved with its eastward expansion and US financing of the Maidan uprising in 2014, provoking the (also unlawfully) Ukraine war, will only become clear in the coming decades.
The point is; NATO is the most sustainably aggressive, law-breaking, and hypocritical alliance humanity has to offer.
The idea that NATO is the good guy is so deeply ingrained in bourgeois consciousness that any criticism of NATO in Eastern Europe or the Chinese sea can be dismissed with “Radio Moscow” or polemics like “but China (…)”.
Anti-NATO sentiment is not pro-Putin; as a person with a historical perspective, it is impossible to see NATO as anything other than an imperialist attack alliance.
